The City of Melbourne Art and Heritage Collection store site opens its doors to the public as part of the Open House Melbourne program.

Free-guided tours offer a rare insight behind the scenes of the City Council's fascinating collection.

A team of tour guides, including Christine Eid, will share stories about some of the collection material on display.

The storage facility, located at 602 Little Bourke Street, was built in 1955. Since 2000 part of the building houses the City of Melbourne Art and Heritage Collection.

This eclectic collection comprises of 8,000 artworks and artefacts including ceremonial, civic and commemorative objects, Mayoral portraits, regalia, city gifts, architectural drawings, historic photographs, Moomba robes and ephemera, 1956 Olympic Games photographs and objects, city directories, parking officer and taxi objects, contemporary art and works by urban Indigenous artists.
